About the Saturday Ensembles
The Saturday Ensembles programme brings together experienced string players to rehearse and perform a wide range of repertoire in a supportive, focused setting. Each term, we work towards performance-ready programmes, exploring styles from baroque to contemporary and developing the musical skills needed for confident ensemble playing.
Who is it for?
These ensembles are intended for adult violin, viola, cello and double bass players working at approximately Grade 5 level and above, or with equivalent experience from other study. You should be comfortable reading music, playing in higher positions and managing a range of bowing techniques.
What to expect
- Regular rehearsals focused on musical detail, ensemble cohesion and stylistic awareness
- Repertoire that is challenging, enjoyable and designed to stretch you musically
- Opportunities to prepare for concerts and informal performances
- A welcoming community of like-minded musicians who enjoy playing at a higher level
How to join
The Saturday Ensembles are currently on pause and will re-launch as part of our refreshed 2026 programme. To register your interest and be kept up to date with new dates, repertoire and audition / placement information, please email support@stringschool.uk and ask to be added to the Saturday Ensembles waiting list.
